spiritual understanding). 8 But as to him who
came to you striving earnestly, 9 And with
fear (in his heart), 10 Of him you were

31Parables of the Quran
O ye who believe! Cancel not your charity by
reminders of your generosity or by injury, like
those who spend their substance to be seen of
men, but believe neither in Allah nor in the Last
Day. They are in Parable like a hard barren rock,
on which is a little soil on it falls heavy
rain, which leaves it (just) a bare stone. They
will be able to do nothing with what they have
earned. And Allah guides not those who reject
Faith. ?????? 2 264
32Parables of the Quran
And the likeness of those who spend their
substance, seeking to please Allah and to
strengthen their souls, is as a garden, high
(elevated ground) and fertile heavy rain falls
on it but makes it yield a double increase of
harvest, and if it receives not heavy rain, light
moisture suffices it. Allah sees well whatever
you do . ?????? 2 265
33Parables of the Quran
The parable of those who take protectors other
than Allah is that of the Spider, who builds (to
itself) a house but truly the flimsiest of
houses is the Spider's house if they but knew. .

34Parables of the Quran
175- Relate to them the story of the man to whom
We sent Our Signs, but he passed them by so
Satan followed him up, and he went astray. 176-
If it had been Our Will, We should have elevated
him with Our Signs but he inclined to the earth,
and followed his own vain desires. His similitude
is that of a dog if you attack him, he pants, or
if you leave him alone, he (still) pants. That is
the similitude of those who reject Our Signs so
relate the story perchance they may reflect. . .

35Parables of the Quran
There are among men some who serve Allah, as it
were, on the verge if good befalls them, they

lose both this world and the Hereafter that is
loss for all to see! . ???? 22 11
