• The Remnant of the Holy One

RemnantCan Signify

• Few left over from a siege
• The few faithful during or after apostasy
• A small number returning from captivity
• A group small in comparison to the whole who
  would obey the Gospel.
• Remnant simply signifies that which has escaped
  a general destruction, a residue, that which is
  left over.

In Isaiah 1020-23

• First found its fulfillment in return from
  Babylon.
• Complete fulfillment under Christ through the
  Gospel, when God set his hand the second time
  to reclaim the remnant.
• Pauls testimony Romans 927, 28 (he ties this
  quote of Isa. 1022, 23 with 19 in Rom. 929)
• The seed left to them is the Remnant Redeemed.

The Second TimeIsaiah 111-16

• First remnant from Babylonian captivity
• Second remnant (v. 11) from captivity of sin.
• V. 10 - And it shall come to pass in that day,
  that the root of Jesse, that standeth for an
  ensign of the peoples, unto him shall the nations
  seek and his resting-place shall be glorious.
• Rom. 1512 - And again, Isaiah saith, There shall
  be the root of Jesse, And he that ariseth to rule
  over the Gentiles On him shall the Gentiles hope.

Jesus and the Remnant

• Luke 1323-24 -And one said unto him, Lord, are
  they few that are saved? And he said unto them,
• 24 Strive to enter in by the narrow door for
  many, I say unto you, shall seek to enter in, and
  shall not be able.

  the remnant of his people...
• Matthew 713 - Enter ye in by the narrow gate
  for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that
  leadeth to destruction, and many are they that
  enter in thereby. 14 For narrow is the gate, and
  straitened the way, that leadeth unto life, and
  few are they that find it.
