4INSTITUTIONS
It is a net of research institution oriented
toward the technologies for reducing chemical
inputs in agriculture
IASMA. It promotes and carries out research,
scientific experiments, education, training
activities and technical assistance in the
agricultural field
ARO, Volcani center. The department of Plant
Pathology deals with plant diseases caused by
fungal and bacterial pathogens
University of Haifa, MIS. It is working in the
field of computerized information system in
modern organization
5LOCATION
6SAFECROP AIM
- SafeCrop Centre aims to reduce pesticide input in
fruit and vegetable crops with a variety of soft
control methods Biocontrol agents, chemicals
that influence behaviour of pests and natural
compounds active against pests and diseases
7SAFECROP RESEARCH CENTRE
Three research sections 1. Plant pathology
(Yigal Elad, ARO) 2. Entomology (Sylvie Derridj,
INRA) 3. Risk assessment (Ilaria Pertot, IASMA)
8SAFECROP RESEARCH CENTRE
Trials in diverse condition and countries
Greenhouses
Laboratories
Fields
9JOINT RESEARCH IN AGRICULTURE
Joint implementation of national/regional
programmes through harmonised, joint or
co-ordinated projects between the Volcani center,
IASMA and SafeCrop
10JOINT RESEARCH IN AGRICULTURE
- Italy Israel cooperation is on Integrated Pest
Management (IPM) research - Optimization of pesticides use
- Integration with biocontrol and biotechnology
11PROJECTS
With the use of natural microorganisms it is
possible to reach a disease control that is
comparable to chemical pesticides
12SAFECROP RESEARCH CENTRE
its research has an added value due to the fact
of the integration with other sciences
- Communication, computing and software
technologies knowledge management - Economy Market analyses
- Toxicology
13JOINT RESEARCH IN CONVERGING SCIENCES
- Agriculture needs the support of the
IT-information technologies to manage pathogen
and insect diseases information or to analyse
environmental, biological and meteorological data
14JOINT RESEARCH IN CONVERGING SCIENCES
- The "Converging sciences" is the expression of
this need of integration between several
sciences, from IT sciences to agriculture, from
business economy to psychology
15JOINT RESEARCH IN CONVERGING SCIENCES
- Through research activities, the MIS department,
IASMA and the Volcani center (inside SafeCrop),
are developing together common research projects
with shared goals
16JOINT RESEARCH IN CONVERGING SCIENCES
- Relevance is given to the information system
application in agriculture, oriented to the
decision support systems, alert and monitoring
systems and processes management
17PROJECTS
Software for pesticide and fungicide residues on
grapes and wine. The system is intended to avoid
the use of some Active Ingredients permitted in
Italy but not in the Country of destination (or
Active Ingredients with "Maximum residue levels"
smaller than in Italy)
18PROJECTS
19PROJECTS
Software for collecting and managing information
about experiments that are done in the laboratory
and green house. It is used for managing
microorganisms that were isolated in Safecrop and
other places or chemicals products
20PROJECTS
21PROJECTS
- 3. Administration automation software project
The system is intended to support the
administration of human resources and researcher
mobility in networks of research institutes
and/or RD
22PROJECTS
- 3. Administration automation software project
The first goal of the project is to reduce the
amount of replication in the data entry, allow
correct monitoring processes, high availability
of data and to make the administration efficient,
quick and clear in all its processes.
