Optical Character Recognition

• Optical Character Recognition, usually
  abbreviated to OCR, is a type of computer
  software designed to translate images of
  handwritten or typewritten text (usually captured
  by a scanner) into machine-editable text, or to
  translate pictures of characters into a standard
  encoding scheme representing them (e.g. ASCII or
  Unicode).
• Systems for recognizing hand-printed text on the
  fly have enjoyed commercial success in recent
  years. Among these are the input device for
  personal digital assistants such as those running
  Palm OS.

Voice Recognition Software

• Use your voice to dictate, edit and control
  applications like Microsoft Word, Microsoft
  Excel, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Corel
  WordPerfect
• Speaker-dependent dictation systems requiring a
  short period of training can capture continuous
  speech with a large vocabulary at normal pace
  with a very high accuracy. Most commercial
  companies claim that recognition software can
  achieve between 98 to 99 accuracy.

• An active matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD)
  is a type of flat panel display, currently the
  overwhelming choice of notebook computer
  manufacturers, due to light weight, very good
  image quality, wide color gamut, and response
  time.
• The display resolution signifies the number of
  dots (pixels) on the entire screen. The higher
  the resolution, the more dots or pixels on your
  display device.

Touchscreen

• Touchscreens have recently become familiar in
  retail settings, on point of sale systems, on
  ATMs and on PDAs where a stylus is sometimes used
  to manipulate the GUI and to enter data. The
  popularity of smart phones, PDAs, portable game
  consoles and many types of information appliances
  is driving the demand for, and the acceptance of,
  touchscreens.

Digital Cameras

• A live-preview digital camera (LPD) is camera
  that uses a live preview on an electronic screen
  as its principal means of framing and previewing
  before taking the photograph. (your most common)
• Digital cameras need memory to store data. A wide
  variety of storage media is available.
• DSLR (Digital single-lens reflex) cameras make up
  your higher end digital cameras.
• The one attribute most commonly compared on
  cameras is the pixel count. Using the SI prefix
  of mega- (which means 1 million) the pixel counts
  are given in megapixels. For example, an 8.0
  megapixel camera has 8.0 million pixels.
