• You are provided with a copy of a published
  paper
• Nogi et al., (2006) Photobacterium profundum sp.
  nov., a new moderately barophilic bacterial
  species isolated from a deep-sea sediment.
• Read the paper and answer the following
  questions
• The organism is described as moderately
  barophilic. What does this mean? Referring to
  the experiments reported in the paper, describe
  how this property was determined.
• How was the organism identified as a new species
  of the genus Photobacterium?
• Write a paragraph about the microbiology, ecology
  and physiology of the genus Photobacterium you
  will need to use additional literature sources.
• Write a paragraph about the chemistry and
  enzymology of bioluminescence you will need to
  use additional literature sources.
• The deep sea is typically at around 2-4oC. Noting
  the minimum temperature for growth of P.
  profundum, comment on the ecology of this
  organism as a deep marine bacterium.
