Discussion Point 1
  • The corporate buyer sector has expressed a
concern that Car Rental prices seem to be
fluctuating and that getting effective and
timeous reports from some car rental suppliers is
    not easy.
  • Have you experienced these fluctuations?
  • What do you think the reasons could be? Is it
petrol price issue, a demand and supply problem,
or are there other factors in play?
  • Does having a Corporate deal in place alleviate
    this issue?
  • Are you experiencing trouble getting effective
reporting and what are the key issues experienced
    from all sectors?

4
Discussion Point 2
  • Many Corporate Buyers struggle with the issue of
Frequent Flyer Miles and similar travel rewards
    programs.
  • What is the best option for dealing with this
issue Should Frequent Flyer perks belong to the
    traveller or to the company?
  • If travellers see Frequent Flyer Miles as a
benefit to travelling, could this not affect
compliance to policy with travellers specifically
booking with suppliers that offer them the best
    perks?
  • If the travellers are the ones spending time away
from home, is it not fair to let them use the
Frequent Flyer Miles collected or if the Miles
belong to the company, should they fed back into
the system and used to the ultimate benefit of
    the traveller?

5
Discussion Point 3
  • Global trends can often just be a fad but often
also begin to impact our market and getting on
board early could be one of the best ways to stay
    ahead of the game.
  • What are your current views on Green Travel?
    Is environmental sustainability important enough
to alter the course of important business
    decisions?
  • Corporate Buyers Is your company starting to
consider making use of suppliers that offer
    Greener solutions?
  • Suppliers Have you started to experience the
impact of this trend and are you looking into
ways to make your services more environmentally
    friendly?

6
Discussion Point 4
  • Global trends continued
  • What are your current views on Duty of Care, do
you have a firm understanding of the concept and
do you believe that this trend is impacting the
    South African Market?
  • Do corporations treat the safety and care of the
their travellers as enough of a priority and do
they understand the responsibility that they have
to their travellers and the direct impact on them
    if something goes wrong?
  • Could it be that this trend will only be taken
seriously in retrospect after an emergency
situation, when it may be too late?

7
Discussion Point 5
  • Many Corporate Buyers are looking to low cost
airlines for staff travel but have concerns
    regarding this option.
  • Is low cost synonymous with low safety?
  • How does one really know how safe any airline is
and to what extent can various Civil Aviation
Authorities assist in providing this information
    and airline ratings?
  • Several large corporations have recently lost key
Members of Staff in airline tragedies. Does
flight frequency play a role here and how can one
better try to enhance the safety of travellers
when flying? Is it simply about doing research
into carriers with low ratings and not using them
or is it about limiting the number of staff on
the same flight? Are there other issues to
    consider?

8
Discussion Point 6
  • Despite many Corporate Buyers expressing severe
concerns regarding Hotel Best Available Rate, it
seems BAR is here to stay.
  • What is the current consensus? Are Corporations
beginning to accept BAR and find ways to work
around the budgeting issues that it creates?
  • If not, are alternative accommodation options
being sought and what are the options available?
  • Are the various hotel groups who are on BAR doing
more to educate and work with their clients to
find solutions that are beneficial to all parties?
