virtual environments_methods of synthetic
construction I
people not only perceive space or spaces when
they are defined and limited by planes
perception of space defined by line elements
(example opening umbrella) space is nothing
static, it constantly changes with the
correlation of the strucutral elements which are
the basis of our perception virtual world
should be free of the physical constraints
surrounding us in the natural world virtual
world consists mainly of line elements, which
change through user interaction, i.e. spaces
evolve
3inspiration_art
pictures show examples of line structures
from threading images, line scetches and
graphics
4inspiration_technology
examples of line structures in
constructions, machinery and engineering
5inspiration_nature
line structures are present in nature e.g.
in meadows, wheat fields and gramineous plants
6development
die veränderbarkeit von raum study_nicola
krause_2000
in the study the idea about the variability
of space could only demonstrated with
conventional CAD models, animations and
physical wire models lack of interactivity
which opens up a completely new realm of
possibilities
7project
images depict the line structures created by
moving through the world the lines not
activated lie on the flat xz-plane and are red
8project
landmarks, the half transparent boxes
containing red cubes are aligned on the
xz-plane and help the user understand the
perspective, especially once movement stops
9project
the more the user moves through the scene, the
more lines are activated and three- dimensional
space is defined space created and perceived
individually
10project
even if a user solely moves from viewpoint to
viewpoint the structure is activated and can be
perceived from different angles to ease
orientation a sky is introduced by gradual
background colour
