Gears

• Gears are toothy wheels that mesh together.
  The interlocked teeth push on each other as they
  rotate around.
• The meshed gears turn each other in opposite
  directions.

Spur Gears

• Teeth parallel to the axis of rotation
• Power transmission is between parallel shafts
• No axial thrust
• Good for low to medium level power transmission

Helical Gears

• Teeth inclined to the axis of rotation
• Power transmission is between parallel shafts or
  included
• axial thrust
• Good for medium to high level power transmission

Herringbone Gears

• Teeth inclined to the axis of rotation
• Power transmission is between parallel shafts
• No axial thrust
• Good for high level power transmission
