Why is being a FPHS Cheerleader so great?
  • Emphasizes commitment and dedication
  • Team bond that will last a lifetime
  • You get to cheer in front of the school
  • Helps you manage your time
  • You succeed in school and get better grades
  • Competitions
  • Scholarships-WSCCA gives away over 20,000

4
Minimum Requirements
  • Good grades are of high importance to our
    program.
  • Grades will be calculated in the final tryout
    score.
  • An unofficial copy of transcripts and grades need
to be submitted with try-out packet. Can print
    out both from online grades.
  • Incoming Freshmen will need to supply a grade
check and their report card from first semester.
  • All paperwork must be FULLY COMPLETED and ON
    TIME.
  • Cheerleaders cannot participate in Fall or Winter
    sports.
  • Extra-curricular activities i.e. ASB, Yearbook,
Plays, Youth Group, Work/Job, All-star cheer,
outside sports teams, etc. are not excusable
    reasons to miss cheer.

5
Cardinal Cheerleading ContractThe contract is
the backbone of our program and should be read
thoroughly.
  • This contract is intended for you to become
familiar of the high expectations and dedication
required to be a cardinal cheerleader.
  • Read it over closely at home and return the
    signature page.

6
Try-Out Process/Selection
  • Only those who are invited to try-outs may
attend. That means all your paperwork must be
completed and turned in on time. If you cannot
complete and turn in paperwork now you will not
be able to manage being on the team later
  • Try-outs are physically exhausting. We are
looking for candidates that can be encouraging,
not give up, and try their hardest, all while
    having a good attitude.
  • We are looking for cheerleaders who have
potential-not someone who already knows cheer
    skills necessarily.

7
Try-Out Process/Selection Continued.
  • 4. Try-out for the right reasons. Do not try-out
thinking you will be a flyer, tumbler, varsity,
    captain, etc.
  • 5. Try-out scores are made up of teacher/coach
    recommendations, grade/transcript reports,
try-out packet worksheets, daily points earned
during try-out week, interview, and judges score
    sheets.
  • 6. The selection process is not disputable. If
your son/daughter does not make the team and
wishes to know which skills they can work on to
try-out for the following year, they may arrange
    a meeting with me.
  • 7. The Friday before spring break I will announce
those candidates who were selected to make the
    team.

8
Uniform
  • All pieces of the uniform will be paid in
    advance before ordering.
  • If you are late with a payment then the ENTIRE
    order is put on hold.
  • Uniform/Cheer cost estimated 900. Thats
    including uniform, competition fees,
    camps/clinics, etc.
  • A 150. Payment is Due April 1st details will
    be in the Congratulations letter
  • Hair bows, pom pons, make-up, etc is considered
    part of the uniform.

9
UNIFORM continued.
  • Uniforms are purchased every three years.
  • 09-10 is the third year or 3/3 for the current
    uniform
  • For many that means the possibility of purchasing
a new uniform in the 10-11 school year.
  • All pieces of the uniform are decided upon by the
    coach(s) NOT the cheerleaders.
  • SKIRT LENGTH-is at the discretion of Head Coach
Alicia Patterson. If your skirt is too short due
to growth a new one will have to be purchased.

10
Teams
  • There will be two cheer teams again this year.
  • As stated in the contract a cheerleader may move
up or down on teams during the year either by
trying out or as designated by coach(s).
  • On the try-out application you may try-out for
    both teams or just one.
  • Both Teams will be expected to uphold high
    standards.
  • Both teams will have tumbling lessons together.
  • All members will attend Tuesday cheer/chant
practices until they pass the cheer/chant test.

11
What are the differences amongst the teams?
12
Reminders
  • You must have no fees or fines
  • You must have a sports clearance. (emergency
    form, physical, ASB card, etc.)
  • A current physical needs to be on file in the
office. Keep a copy for yourself!
  • ALL paperwork needs to be fully completed and
signed before you turn it in! Check it over
    twice!!

13
What can I expect if I make the team?
  • Cheerleaders can expect to..

    school year.
