Epidermis

• The outer most layer of skin.
• Its layer is mostly made of dead cells.
• New cells take the place of dead cells.

Dermis

• The innermost thick layer of the skin composed of
  living cells.
• It helps control our body temperature.

Hypodermis (subcutaneous layer)

• Is the third layer.
• Its the layer beneath the dermis.
• It acts as an energy reserve.

Keratin and Melanin

• Keratin is a tough protein which forms the basic
  structure of hair and nails.
• Melanin is a darkened chemical that determines
  the skin color.

• Helps regulate body temperature .
• Removes waste products from the body .
• Provides protection from the sun .
• Skin keeps moisture in your body.
• Adip cells is in the bottom layer.
• It also keeps salt from leaving your body.
