A. The Context
In 2006 IPP was evaluated as a whole
(International Institutional Evaluation)
7 schools Central Services Student Welfare
Services (SASIPP) Foundation of Porto
Polytechnic Institute (FIPP)
All committed to a common goal to achieve the
mission of the institution
To educate, within a Higher Education context,
for the learning to learn, learning to do,
learning to be.

From 1995 to 2000, IPP applied voluntarily for
the self-assessment of its courses, although it
was compulsory for universities only.
Since 2000, IPP (as well as the other
polytechnics) were submitted to the National
System of Evaluation promoted by CNAVES (National
Council for the Higher Education Evaluation).

All the Sub-Committees were summoned to reflect
upon the issues raised in the Report.
A collaborative site was created to collect and
share information.
The activities were scheduled based on a section
by section working procedure followed by debate
between the Steering Committee and each
Sub-Committee.
At the final stage of the elaboration, the Report
was presented to the new President and to the
Presidents of the Governing Bodies of the Schools.

c) Steering Committee - analysed, completed
and summed up the answers presented by the
Sub-Committees - took part with the Coordinator
in the information sessions in the Schools -
some members took part with the Coordinator in
some interviews to the external entities related
with IPP.

d) Sub-Committees - active collaboration in the
elaboration of the Self- Evaluation Report -
collection of the data and information need to
the Report inside the bodies they
represented - promotion of the discussion about
unknown or non-clear aspects inside the bodies

they represented about problems or questions
that appeared during the process.

e) Supporting-staff (in collaboration with the
Steering Committee (SC) coordinator) - drafted
a text that has helped/oriented the
Sub- Committees work - took part in
every meeting with the SC coordinator and in
the meetings with the Sub- Committees
the meetings with EUA team the preparation
of the Survey to all the students who
dropped-out their courses and in the analysis
of the findings.
