Student Evaluations
  • Typically administered around 10th week
  • Results available for faculty members as they
    submit grades
  • Problem doesnt really provide evaluation of
    entire semester
  • Thus, its been proposed they be done later
  • However, its now a moot point were having
these processed on a College wide basis
  • Allows for comparisons of faculty across
    departments
  • Means we wont have them processed early
  • Therefore, well be doing them later

7
A Related Issue Student Satisfaction Surveys
  • Yes, theyre (very) flawed but were probably
    stuck with them
  • Still, these will not be used at the
    departmental level for merit, etc.
  • Pay attention to them or ignore them
  • If nothing else, use to gauge satisfaction
  • Learning a satisfied student is more likely to
    learn (maybe)
