History
The Pledge of Allegiance was written in 1892 in
Boston to celebrate the 400th anniversary of
Columbus discovering America. The Pledge of
Allegiance was written by Francis Bellamy.

  • The first change to the Pledge was the removal of
    the word my and adding the words the flag of the
    United States.
  • The second change was to add of America.
  • The third change was to add the words under God.

  • I pledge allegiance
  • This means that I promise to be true.
  • to the flag of the United States of America
  • This means to the symbol of our country.
