- The final product involves a completed Civil
War Magazine along with a presentation to be
delivered to parents and visitors during Civil
War Night.

The Assignment Create a magazine from the tim
e period of the Civil War. Your magazines
focus should be built around your civil war night
project! The Goal Learn as much as possible a
bout a pivotal time period in American history
through research, projects, and presentations.
7The payoff A prize for the best magazine A se
t of the best magazines will be selected to be
shown at our civil war night. The parents will
then vote for the best magazine that will be
rewarded with a major prize! The players Each
group will consist of four (4) members.

- 1. Watch a movie based on the Civil War and
write a movie review. Create an advertisement
for the movie in the magazine. -General
- 2. Draw a soldier in all his regalia. The
illustration must go in the magazine and parts of
the uniform, rank, and detachment must be
labeled. -Captain - 3. Students must research a major battle. An
article concerning the battle and results must be
published in the magazine. A diagram of the
battlefield must also be located in the magazine
and be labeled with positions of troops and local
landmarks. Major/Captain - 4. Students will research on the internet and
find an actual letter written by someone affected
by the Civil War. The magazine article must
relay the events mentioned in the letter and
include the letters author and date. Extra
articles and letters may be included for extra
credit. -Lieutenant

11Civil War NightWednesday May 21st 6-8pm
- Introduction
- Besides the Civil War Magazine, each group will
also be responsible for creating a presentation
or display of some sort for Civil War Night.
Team Domination has been chosen to represent the
North. Team Contagious has been chosen to
represent the south. For each of the projects
listed on the next page, there will be a northern
and southern version. Though you are on two
different teams and on the opposite side of the
bloodiest dispute in American History, YOU CAN
HELP EACH OTHER OUT!!
