Service Overview

• Assist Federal Agencies in developing standards
  and conformity policies and administrative
  infrastructure
• Design and assist in the implementation of
  conformity assessment programs
• Coordinate conformity assessment to increase
  effectiveness and reduce redundancy (Federal,
  State and local)
• Identify effective standards and conformity
  assessment approaches for procurement and grant
  guidance
• Assist in the development of standards to support
  conformity assessment programs and other federal
  needs
• Coordinate and network with standards development
  organizations
• Promote use of available international and
  national standards

Body Armor Certification Program Redesign

• Type testing to applicable standards at
  accredited laboratories National Voluntary
  Laboratory Accreditation Program (NVLAP) workshop
  held in Dec. 2006
• Two track surveillance system planned
• Primary periodic retest of samples from
  production or production stock
• Optional Body armor quality management system
  registration by ANAB accredited registrar
  (reduces frequency of retest)
• Extensive Additional balistics testing
• New artificial aging preconditioning protocol
• NIST Body Armor Workshop to be held end of

EPA WaterSense Program

• Plumbing and water usage equipment manufacturers
  can voluntarily demonstrate their compliance with
  EPA water efficiency specifications
• First specifications for High Efficiency Toilets
• Equipment will be certified by ANSI accredited
  certification organization
• Interim program will go live soon based on
  previous ANSI accreditation to similar test
  requirements
• Certifiers enter into licensing agreement with
  EPA to authorize use of WaterSense mark
• Manufacturers sign partnership
• agreement with EPA
