Title: Blindness Poster Analysis
1The actors are billed on top due to how important
they are to the story and who is the most famous
Shes the main character, her headshot is the
most dominant, its ahead of the other 4 main
characters. Her name is also listed first.
These are the main characters, they will be the
faces you will remember when you go to see the
film as they all got headshots on the poster
compared to the people below the title
The title is in sans serif font which means it
can stand out from far away, it has the strap
line underneath it also in the same font so it
can stand out, the title of the film is in a
bigger font as that is more important for the
audience to know.
2The characters seem to be looking up except one
so he is the odd one out, he seems to not be part
of the main Group of characters
This character is darker than the rest, the
others seem to have a glow on them but he has a
shadow on half of his face which indicates that
he could be the villain in the story
They characters in the background have been shot
in a long shot and show that its not just the
main characters who are involved in the plot but
everyone else seems to be affected in some sort
of way.
The colours used are mainly white which shows a
sense of innocence, they also seem to be fading
away, the characters necks fade into the white
background, to symbolise people going blind.
3Their is a very clear white area which the main
character seems to block off, this would mean
hes turned away from the light or he cant face
the light
His facial expression shows him to be down, he
seems to be one of the ones affected by the
disease which is one of the main parts of the film
In the trailer you can hear them call the disease
White Blindness, so the fact that this poster
is predominantly dark/black contradicts that
Unlike most posters these poster has no billing
box, it only names the actor on the poster.
4The film title is written in sans serif again so
its easy to read from afar, the text how ever
has been giving a blur as as you read the word it
fades out, as if you are losing the ability to
see it which is promoting the theme of blindness
The actors name is given more importance than
the film title as it is a bigger font size, it
will be what the audience will see first not the
title. This is a rare thing to do.
The tagline above the actor adds to the films
title as it refers to the word blind again. As it
uses the word Hope it implies that the
character used in the poster will be one of the
good guys in the film and be hope for saving
the day or something along those lines
His eyes is black which is in keeping of the
monochrome effect the whole poster has. As all
you can see is the black of his eye and not the
white it implies he is unable to see as black
also symbolises absence.
5This version of the film title has a linear blur
applied to it
On both posters, the word blindness fades out
over the word, this fade is more present on the
bottom of the two, but the top one stands out
more on its poster. The bottom one is seen after
you would notice the actors face.
This version appears to have a radial blur
applied to the title
6On three versions of the poster they appear to
use puns referring to blindness. LOOK to the
future..., Hope is BLIND and Love is BLIND.
