Who is Patricia Polacco?

• She was born in Lansing, Michigan in 1944. She
  lived on a farm with her mom and Grandparents
  until 1949. Her grandparents were some of the
  most inspirational people in her life. Those
  relationships greatly influenced her life and
  work.
• In 1949 they moved to Coral Gables, Florida, and
  then to Oakland, California. What she loved most
  about this neighborhood was that all her
  neighbors came in as many colors, ideas and
  religions as there are people on the planet. She
  thought she was lucky to know so many people that
  were so different and yet so much alike.
• Ms. Polacco had a very hard time learning to
  read. She couldnt read until she was 14 years
  old. She did not write children's books until she
  was 41 years old.
