United Methodist WomenPurpose Statement

• The organized unit of United Methodist Women
  shall be a community of women whose purpose is to
  know God and to experience freedom as whole
  persons through Jesus Christ, to develop a
  creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand
  concepts of mission through participation in the
  Global ministries of the church.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Purpose
• To make the Purpose Statement an Action Statement
  by identifying roles and responsibilities to
  support St. Lukes internal and external
  activities.
• To establish a fluid process for hosting events,
  executing projects, and maintaining
  communications with St. Lukes and the District.

Internal Affairs

• Purpose To assess and fulfill the needs of St.
  Lukes Congregation.
• Responsibilities
• 3rd Sunday Fellowship refreshments
• Funeral Luncheons

External Affairs

• Purpose To represent St. Lukes UMW Chapter at
  District and affiliated organizations, and to
  provide open communications between St. Lukes
  and external organizations
• Responsibilities
• Liaison to United Methodist Women Intra-District
  functions
• Liaison to Church Women United

• Purpose To coordinate and implement St. Lukes
  Church events and activities to encourage
  fellowship.
• Responsibilities
• Potato Soup Luncheon
• Spring Bake/Craft Sale
• Chili Luncheon
• Fall Picnic/Pot Luck Dinner
• Cookie Walk
• Tree Decorating

United Methodist DistrictSpecial Projects

• Purpose To coordinate and execute St. Lukes
  special projects that support District
  initiatives.
• Responsibilities
• School, Health, and Layette Kits UMW assemble
  kits using church members donations.
• Salvation Army Stockings

Harvest Dinner Bake and Craft Sale

• Purpose To encourage fellowship within the St.
  Lukes and Northern Virginia Community through
  Fall Church fundraisers.
• Responsibilities
• Crafts UMW create loving jewelry , hand-painted
  scarves, and warm winter accessories.
• Bake Sale UMW make homemade treats (cookies,
  cakes, pies, and more)
