will appear and perform signs and miracles to
deceive the elect - if that were possible.

never believe." GW GG Acts 219 I will show

you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did

1. To demonstrate Gods power
Psalm 7714 You are the God who performs
miracles you display your power among the
peoples.
Acts 312 Men of Israel, why does this surprise
you? Why do you stare at us as if by our own
power or godliness we had made this man walk?
10
2. To help those who are in need
2 Kings 432-35 When Elisha reached the house,
there was the boy lying dead on his couch. He
went in, shut the door on the two of them and
prayed to the LORD. The boy sneezed seven times
and opened his eyes.
Matthew 817 This was to fulfil what was spoken
through the prophet Isaiah He took up our
infirmities and carried our diseases.
11
3. To prove that Jesus is the Christ
John 2030-31 Jesus did many other miraculous
signs in the presence of his disciples, which are
not recorded in this book. But these are written
that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ,
the Son of God, and that by believing you may
have life in his name.
12
John 32 (Nicodemus) said, Rabbi, we know you
are a teacher who has come from God. For no-one
could perform the miraculous signs you are doing
if God were not with him.
13
4 To authenticate the message spoken
Exodus 41-5 So Moses reached out and took hold
of the snake and it turned back into a staff in
his hand. "This," said the LORD, "is so that
they may believe that the LORD, the God of their
fathers - the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac
and the God of Jacob - has appeared to you.
14
1 Kings 1722-24 Then the woman said to Elijah,
"Now I know that you are a man of God and that
the word of the LORD from your mouth is the
truth."
Hebrews 24 This salvation, which was first
announced by the Lord w, was confirmed to us by
those who heard him. God also testified it by
signs, wonders and various miracles, and the gift
of the Holy Spirit distributed according to His
will.
15
5. To give evidence that God is at work
1 Kings 1837-38 Then the fire of the LORD fell
and burned up the sacrifice, the wood, the stones
and the soil, and also licked up the water in the
trench.
Mark 1620 Then the disciples went out and
preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with
them and confirmed his word by the signs that
accompanied it.
16
6. To bear witness to the fact that the Kingdom
of God has come
Daniel 42-3 It is my pleasure to tell you about
the miraculous signs and wonders that the Most
High God has performed for me. How great are his
signs, how mighty his wonders! His kingdom is an
eternal kingdom his dominion endures from
generation to generation.
17
Matthew 1228 But if I drive out demons by the
Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come
upon you.
18
7. To bring glory to God
Exodus 915-16 For by now I could have stretched
out my hand and struck you and your people with a
plague that would have wiped you off the earth.
But I have raised you up for this very purpose,
that I might show you my power and that my name
might be proclaimed in all the earth.
19
John 114 When He heard this, Jesus said, This
sickness will not end in death. No, it is for
Gods glory so that Gods Son may be glorified
through it.
20
In Conclusion
  • God always does miracles for a reason.
  • They are not just random acts to prove His
    greatness or show kindness.
  • They can be evidence to back up His word or His
    works.
  • Sometimes they are acts of judgement.
  • They are part of a Divine Plan.

21
33 Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and
knowledge of God! How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out! 36 For from
him and through him and to him are all things. To
him be the glory for ever! Amen. Romans 11
