6IMPACT OF SFE
ON TARGET GROUPS (FGD)
ON TARGET GROUPS (survey)
- Parents Comments
- Its a very good programme. Balanced and widens
your horizon on aspects of parenting. - The school designed the family room like a
home. So instead of loitering outside school,
the students spend time interacting with friends.
Friendships are nurtured. - Schools Comments
- Its because of these talks that the parents
come to schools more often, not to complain. They
see that theres a closer connection - The parents see the school as looking after
them, giving them confidence to tackle issues.
Its like meeting their needs in life - Staff wellbeing means that you want a healthy
teacher whose family wellness is taken care of.
They benefit from this programme.
7IMPACT OF SFE
FOCUS GROUP DISCUSSION
ON TARGET GROUPS (FGD)
- Student Focus Group Discussion 2004 - Findings
- Students found programmes like managing
stress/anger/time/money, resisting negative peer
pressure and internet safety, etc useful, easy to
relate to and apply in real life - Some students feedback on inappropriate timing
and venue, failure to induce active participation
and programmes not tailored to their needs - Schools were given findings and encouraged to
continue to get feedback from students and
conduct interactive and tailored programmes
8IMPACT OF SFE
ON TARGET GROUPS (FGD)
- Student Focus Group Discussion (FGD) - Quotes
- We can understand our parents and what they are
feeling because we can see from their point of
view. - You have better appreciation for aims and goals.
You learn that you cannot do things last
minute. - We talk about our life and learn how to handle
our stress. - I like the money management workshop that is
conducted like an adventure game. It was fun!
9IMPACT OF SFE
MOVING FORWARD
- Increasing participation rates of fathers and low
income groups - Capacity building of parent facilitators/mentors
to reach out to the unconverted groups - Developing programmes that better meet the needs
of the target groups - Replicate SFE model to pre-schools and other
educational institutions (e.g. JC)
