4
Learning Outcomes
  • To learn characteristics of our galaxy
  • To learn the names and order of the planets
  • To learn general information about each planet

5
Our Galaxy The Milky Way
  • The Milky Way, consists of nine planets.
  • It has billions of stars.
  • The planets revolve around the sun, the focus of
    the Milky way.

6
Mercury
  • Mercury is the closest planet to the sun.
  • It is close in size to our moon.
  • It appears as a bright star in our sky an hour
before sunrise or an hour after sunset.

7
Venus
  • Venus is the second planet from the sun.
  • It is very bright.
  • A long time ago, Venus was very similar to the
    Earth.
  • It had clouds and water.

8
Earth
  • Earth is our planet, the third planet from the
    sun.
  • We are the only planet with living organisms.

    spot.

14
Pluto
  • Pluto is the farthest planet from the sun.
  • It is also the smallest planet smaller than our
    moon!!

  • Pluto appears pink.

15
Summary
  • Our galaxy is called the Milky Way.
  • There are nine planets that are very different
    from each other.
  • Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn,
    Uranus, Neptune, Pluto
  • Heres how to remember the planets in order My
