Title: OUR SOLAR SYSTEM

1
OUR SOLAR SYSTEM
Solar System
  • By Mackenzie Andrews

2
Mercury
  • If you moved to Mercury you would not weigh as
much as you do on Earth.
  • Mercury is so close to the Sun, and so small,
that it has only a very small atmosphere .
  • Mercury has no moons.
  • Mercury is the planet closest to the Sun in our
    Solar System.

3
Venus
  • It has thick clouds that traps heat in its
    atmosphere.
  • Venus has no moons.
  • Venus is the same size as Earth thats why they
    call it Earths sister
  • It is the hottest planet in our Solar System.

4
Earth
  • Earth is the third planet to the sun
  • The diameter is 7,926 miles.
  • It is 93 million miles from the sun
  • The surface temperature is 59 F

5
Mars
  • If you weighed 70 pounds on Earth you would weigh
    25 pounds on Mars
  • The surface of Mars is rocky, dry, and mostly
    covered in iron-rich dust.
  • Mars is the fourth planet from the sun it is know
    as the red planet
  • The diameter is 4,222 miles.

6
Jupiter
  • Jupiter known as Zeus in Greece over threw his
father Saturn to become king of the gods.
  • . If you weigh 70 pounds on the Earth, on Jupiter
    you would weigh 185 pounds.
  • Jupiter's great red spot visible in the picture
to the right is where a giant storm has been
raging for at least 300 years.
  • Jupiter is the fifth and largest planet in our
    solar system.

7
SATURN
  • Saturn is about 97 Hydrogen gas, about 3 helium
    gas and about 0.05 methane.
  • Near the equator, tremendous winds blow at 1,100
    mph.
  • Saturn is a gaseous planet with a rocky core, a
liquid metallic hydrogen layer above the core .
  • The hot, heavy, rocky core has a radius possibly
three times the radius of the Earth.

8
URANUS
  • Uranus was the lord of the skies and husband of
    Earth.
  • If you weigh 70 pounds on the Earth you would
    weigh 82 pounds on Uranus.
  • Uranus is the seventh planet from the sun in our
    solar system. .
  • Uranus' blue color is caused by the methane (CH4)
in its atmosphere this molecule absorbs red
    light.

9
NEPTUNE
  • Neptune is the eighth planet from the sun in our
    solar system.
  • This giant, frigid planet has a hazy atmosphere
    and strong winds.
  • This gas giant is orbited by eight moons and
narrow, faint rings arranged in clumps.
  • Neptune's blue color is caused by the methane
(CH4) in its atmosphere this molecule absorbs
    red light.
