Recruit Division Commander

• Recruit Division Commanders (RDC) are the single
  most important factor in preparing new enlisted
  personnel for a successful Navy career.
• The tasks required are mentally, physically and
  emotionally demanding, and require proven
  self-discipline and imaginative problem-solving
  skills.

Roles of an RDC

• Manager Ensure Recruits meet all appointments
  and keep the Division on schedule
• Leader Motivator and Trainer, Leader, Leads
  by Example
• Instructor Instruct on all aspects of being a
  Sailor
• Counselor Mentor for up to 88 Recruits in a
  Division
• In the execution of these duties, personnel
  assigned
• must continually demonstrate superior leadership
  and
• motivational skills in demanding and often unique
• situations.

Process for Becoming an RDC

• Meet Eligibility Requirements
• Basic Instructor Training (NEC 9502)
• RDC School (NEC 9508)

Eligibility Requirements

• Must pass Recruit Division Commander Screening
  IAW MILPERSMAN 1306-954 (AUG 04)
• When screening personnel for RDC Duty please
  follow the MILPERSMAN to the letter.
• Some things may be waived some things may not.
• The Sailors screening for RDC Duty should
  represent the TOP TEN PERCENT of the Navy. Sat
  High on a PFA is not the top ten percent.
• Professional military appearance at all times is
  a must. All tattoos will be screened by RTC,
  although they require waivers, it is not
  automatic.

Typical Screening Discrepancies

• Missing COs endorsement on 1306/92, screening
  form
• Missing DAPA, CMEO, and FAP page 13 endorsement
• PFA failures upon reporting to RTC (BCA and PRT)
• Medically unfit
• Time in rate/service for PO2s not met
• Not re-screened 30-45 days prior to detaching
