A Commentary It is not all about VSCP Funding
  • VSCP funding at some level is needed to pay for
    records however,
  • The mechanism of the VSCP contracts will not
assure improvements in quality and timeliness
  • Contracts/Cooperative Agreements are needed to
meet individual state needs for infrastructure
    (targeted field work, re-engineering, data
    linkage, new items, etc.
  • Legislation needed for vitals need to be a
reportable event and for funding support to
    improve quality and timeliness

8
NAPHSIS Cooperative Agreement
  • Funding comes from NDI receipts
  • CA is to help States!!!
  • Onsite technical assistance to states for
    re-engineering, improving business practices
  • Meeting VSCP requirements

9
IRTPA Status
  • No progress from the last time I talked with you
  • Draft regs written are still in HHS
  • Doubtful if anything will happen until the next
    Administration
