  • 1981 NMT is introduced in Scandinavia
  • 1982 CEPT creates Group Special Mobile (GSM)
  • 1986 Nine GSM technical proposals are presented
  • 1989 Digital AMPS (DAMPS) is standardized in USA
  • 1991 First GSM networks are launched
  • 1996 IS-95 CDMA is standardized in USA
