3
Current Progress
  • Received Transducer from Panametrics without a
    cable
  • The transducer requires a BCU-58-6W which is 77.
This would connect directly to the input of the
    preamp.
  • They do have a 5670 Preamp in stock. Cost with
    educational discount is 648
  • We will need some kind of pulsating source or to
    induce thermoacoustic waves through the
    microwaves as we planned originally.
  • We spoke to Kip and Ray, Ray did not seem to have
any cables in stock for the V304 Transducer.
  • Kip gave us a dusty preamplifier that might or
might not work (still experimenting with it)
  • Hooked up Function Generator with Oscilliscope
and it function properlywill need to connect the
    Oscilliscope to the computer.

4
Current Progress Continued
  • Talked to Gang regarding hooking up Oscilloscope
to Computer using Cit will be too long and
    tedious to do.
  • The best solution to hooking up Oscilloscope to
Computer would be to call HP and see if they can
send some kind of GPIB software.

5
Problems and Future Plans
  • Need to call HP and find out about software for
    Oscilloscope?
  • We need 2 more large patch antennas for the
    project
  • We need cables for the V304 Transducer (Demo or
    buy?)
  • Should we order a Demo of the 5670 preamplifier?
  • We need a power amplifier for the Microwaves,
however we still do not know how much power is
    required ( 5kW)
  • We need a divider for the Antennas
  • We still need to construct the Apparatus.
