DERI Galway the Genesis

• The Idea DERI started as a cooperation between
  Dieter Fensel and CIMRU (Computer Integrated
  Manufacturing Research Unit) at NUI Galway.
• The Plan Science Foundation Ireland were looking
  for proposals for CSETs
• CSETs Centres for Science, Engineering and
  Technology Campus-Industry Partnerships
• normally range from 1 million to 5 million per
  year for five years and can extend for up to ten
  years based on performance
• The Execution proposal was drafted and
  re-drafted, involvement of academics, HP Galway.
• The Result SFI Funding of 12M over 5 years for
  NUI Galway. DERI was born... 16th June 2003
