  • Team members
  • Lee Man Kit(Jason)
  • Kong Yau Choi(Eddie)
  • Mak Fu Shun(Vincent)
  • Wong Ching Pong (Richard)

2
Introduction
  • Founded in 1966, YKK Hong Kong Limited is as a
subsidiary of YKK Corporation. The company is one
of the biggest corporation in producing and
    selling zippers.

3
  • We are glad to do the manufacturing project
    working under YKK.
  • Today, we present the designs of adhesive paper
    tapping machine.

Once the box press the senor, cylinder will push
the box to the second conveyer. Therefore, the
box can change the direction.

Then the box will pass through the sticking
machine.

8
For the different size of the box, some parts can
be adjusted.
9
Advantages The mechanism is simple.
The cost is relatively low.
The box need not to stay in one place and
can move through all the
process. Disadvantage The machine is in
L-shape, a large area may be
needed.

Operation 1
  • When the box arrives at the set position, the
belt will stop.( There are some sensors to detect
    the boxs position.)
  • Two gears will start to move in x-direction
through the rack and pinion. Since there are
drafts to connect everything, two adhesive
papers are moving in x-direction too.

16
Operation 2
  • At the same time, there are a plastic smoother
and a brush following it. So the adhesive paper
can be sticked on the box.
  • By installing a timer on the machine, the belt
will move again when the process is finished.

17
Pros and Cons
  • Advantages
  • Low in cost
  • User-friendly
  • Disadvantages
  • Big in size (occupied large area)
  • Slow

18
Designed by Zen
  • 2 stages for sticking the adhesive papers.
  • 1 stage for compressing the adhesive papers
    against the box.
  • 8 pneumatics to adjust position.
  • 3 sensors with timers to stop the box.

19
Step 1 The box is moved by rollers, there is
one sensor to stop the roller from moving when
arriving at the mechanism.
Step 2 The four pneumatics extend to push the
box in the middle position!
  • Step 3
  • The bar is extended with Pneumatic to absorb the
    adhesive paper using the absorber!

20
Step 4 The Absorber absorbs the adhesive
paper and pulls it out to the one end of the box
then stop!
21
  • Step 5
  • The Absorber absorbs
  • the adhesive paper and
  • Pulls it out to the one
  • end of the box then stop!

Step 6 The cutter is extended to cut off the
adhesive paper
22
  • Step 7
  • The Absorber retreats, and
  • return to the beginning
  • position!

Step 8 The 4 pneumatics and the cutter retreat!
Step 9 The rollers will start moving the box
after a few seconds using a timer.
23
  • Step 10
  • The box is moved to
  • the next stage for front
  • attachment!
  • and the absorber return
  • to original position!
  • Step 11
  • the Front attachment is
  • the same as the Back
  • attachment!

24
  • Step 12
  • The plate will push the
  • two adhesive papers
  • against the box, and
  • make them stick together
  • smoothly and firmly!

The plate can rotate 90 degree to compress the
latter adhesive paper.
25
  • The box is
  • then carried
  • on for next
  • process

26
Advantages
  • Compacted, everything is done within shorter
    distance.
  • It requires smaller area, save space.
  • Do not require to turn the box by 90 degree.

27
Disadvantages
  • Complicated with many mechanisms and parts.
  • Has to stop for a while, the efficiency will be
    decreased.
  • The cost is high.

29
Operation
  • Box stops at 2
  • Start to put adhesive paper on the box
  • Box stops at 3
  • Make sure the adhesive paper stick on the box
  • Also, at 2, the adhesive paper start to put on
    the box
  • Box stops at 4, then 3 will run again its
    operation

Sticking part
  • Paste the adhesive paper on the box at right
position (operating by rack and pinion)
  • After that, the adhesive paper will reture the
starting position by rack and pinion, to the
    ready state for next side

cylinder
31
Pressing part
  • To make sure that the adhesive paper has
    stricked on the box.
  • Load the T shape brush down to the box.

34
Advantages
  • Easy to assemble Few components to be added in
    the system
  • Effenient Two adhesive paper can be put for two
boxes at the same by two structures
  • Space saving only one conveyor is required

35
Disadvantages
  • The T shape brush and lots of sensors will be
used to detect the positions of the boxes
  • Time costly The boxes have to be stopped for
    the whole operation

37
Operation 1
  • First, the box will be picked up by the pump.
  • Then, the box will be rotated by 90 degrees.

38
Operation 2
  • After rotation, the box will be on another
    conveyor with larger width.
  • The adhesive paper device will put the paper on
the box and smooth the paper.

40
Operation 3
  • After the operation, the box will be rotated by
    90 degree again.
  • Finally, it is putting back to the conveyor for
    further process.

41
Advantages
  • Efficient Two adhesive papers will be attached
    and smoothed at the time
  • Time saving Time can be saved when two pump is
    used.

42
Disadvantages
  • The structure is complicated.
  • Cost is relatively high.
  • The box have to move and rotate from one to
    another place.

43
Preferred Design
  • Design 1
  • Reasons
  • Simple structure
  • Low Cost
  • Shortest Time for each operation
