3Living the Dream in Central America
- Archaeology student studying in Belize, Central
America for two summers.
How can one measure 100 bricks in a day?
Surveying and measuring a wall for the
archaeological record. All bricks were measured!

4Belize
My home was in the jungle of San Ignacio where I
lived right on the Guatemalan border. It was
interesting to live without many things, like
running water and electricity.

5Guatemala
I was able to visit Tikal twice, the largest
Mayan city.

back to 300 A.D.
Atop of temple IV at 80 meters the Maya knew what
they were doing. Temples I-III sit in the center
of the site.
6Costa Rica
- I lived in Playa Hermosa sitting on the beach and
doing nothing

7Nicaragua
- San Juan Del Sur,
- and Granada were
- amazing!

buildings during the revolutions.

8Education
- Graduated Shoreline Community College with an
Associates in Arts and Sciences. - Graduated from the University of Washington with
a major in Anthropology, and minors in American
Indian Studies and Eastern European Literature.
9My Hobbies
- One reason for moving up to B.C. was for the
climbing!
I am looking forward to climbing The Chief this
summer which is located only 40 minutes from
campus in Squamish.

Making time to travel to central California and
tackle El Capitan in Yosemite, California!
11How did I get to UBC?
- I read Outline of a Theory of Practice by
Pierre Bourdeau. - A book about the praxis of anthropological study
in the field and how to collect reliable and
valid data. - I became interested in how information is
cataloged and stored. - Started archiving my own phonographic records
from the University of Washington.
12And now that I'm here ...
I plan to get my joint degree from SLAIS,
Meet new friends,
And enjoy myself in this beautiful new country!
