3What is the problem?
The Arab-Israeli conflict is one of the longest

The people that live in Israel are Jews. Before
Israel existed this land was known as Palestine

Throughout Jewish history the land of Israel has
been of central importance. The Jews believe
that this area of land was given to them by GOD.
It is written in the bible v 14 and 15 of chapter
13 of Genesis
Lift up your eyes, and look from the place where
we are northward and southward, and eastward and
westward For all the land that you see I will
give to you and your family for ever
6The Promised Land
In Genesis God told Abraham to go to Caanan where
he promised that he would be the father of a
great nation of Jews.
This message that Caanan is their PROMISED LAND,
their paradise, their homeland from God was
passed down from Abraham to his son Isaac
Isaacs son, Jacob was given a new name by God and
became called ISRAEL. Thereafter the Jews were
called Israelites and their promised land was to
be called Israel.
7Where is Caanan?
In ARABIA
JORDAN
8The Romans
All is fine for the Jews in Caanan from 1200 BC
until 63 BC when Caanan became part of the Roman
Empire. The Romans renamed Caanan JUDEA
The Jews hated being under Roman control.
Why? The Romans worshipped more than one god, the
Jews only one god. The Romans taxed them
heavily. In 66 AD the Jews became trouble for the
Romans and revolted.
9The Romans
In 70 AD the Romans managed to defeat the Jews.
Thousands of Jews died in a bloody battle. In
the battle the Romans destroyed a very important
Jewish temple the temple of SOLOMON.
All that remains of this today is just one wall
this is now known as the wailing wall.
10The Romans AD135
A second revolt by the Jews. This time the Romans
really punish them.
- Their villages are destroyed
- No Jew is allowed to stay in Jerusalem
- Judea wiped from the map it now becomes

living. The Jews get the blame for the Black

Jews are part of the Semitic race Anti-Semitism
is a particular type of racism racism against
the Jews
15The Jews are forced to live in Ghettos

from anti-Semitism was in Russia in the late 19th

violence against the Jews. This is called a
POGROM. Mobs attacked Jewish shops and
communities, 3 million Jews fled from Russia

money lending and banking

headway What they needed was MONEY They looked
to the support of the wealthy Jews in the USA who

declaration view with favour the establishment
in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish
