3Mission Statement
- Fairland Local School District, in collaboration
with the community, will provide our students
with the opportunity for success in the 21st
century through a challenging curriculum in a
safe and caring environment. Success will be
measured by our students performance on state
achievement tests. Curricular areas in need of
improvement will be identified annually based on
current test results. Instruction will be
modified to meet the needs of our students,
continuing and strengthening our districts
Tradition of Academic Excellence.
4Beliefs
- Students tend to learn what they are taught.
- Our students and community benefit from our
Fairlands demonstrated academic success. - Grade level achievement tests are developed to
assess student learning of grade level indicators
from Ohios Academic Content Standards. - Analyzing data will identify weaknesses in the
curriculum. - Modifying instruction to address curriculum
deficiencies will improve student performance on
achievement tests. - The academic content standards tell us what
students need to know, previous achievement tests
tell us how indicators are assess.

- Answer Key and Scoring Guideline
- Revised Alignment Template
- Test Blueprint
- Item Analysis
- Relevant State Reports (3rd 8th Read Math
Only)
26How do I use the data in a meaningful way?
- Item Analysis Provides the Standard (Std.) and
Benchmark (Bmk.) for each test question along
with the percentage of student responses. - You will need your academic content standards
open to the benchmark section. - Matching specific indicators is only slightly
more difficult.
27What am I looking for?
- The most interesting questions are the ones in
which students performed poorly. - The test questions themselves are interesting and
may be helpful for developing classroom
assessments that are similar in nature and style. - A single question categorized under a certain
standard and matched to a single benchmark, may
assess multiple indicators.
