3How Is A Campus Identified for School
Improvement (SIP)?
- Under the No Child Left Behind (NCLB) ACT of
2001, a Title I, Part A campus that has not met
Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) for two
consecutive years in the same indicator (Reading,
Mathematics, Attendance Rate, or Graduation Rate)
is subject to Title I School Improvement
Requirements.

- (All dates based on 2005 AYP/NCLB calendar
subject to change for 2006-2007) - Early August-Division of NCLB Program
Coordination mails out a Possibility letter to
the Superintendents - August-Districts receive confidential preview

20Fiscal Requirements
- An LEA must expend an amount equal to 20 percent
of its Title I, Part A current-year entitlement,
unless a lesser amount is needed, for School
Choice transportation and SES - 5 percent for School Choice option
- 5 percent for SES
- 10 percent for School Choice option, SES, or
both.

- The campus must expend not less than 10 percent
of the Title I, Part A campus allocation for each
fiscal year that the campus is identified in
improvement status for providing high-quality
professional development to the campus principal
and teachers.

external Technical Assistance Provider for the
duration of the school improvement designation to
assist the campus in the school improvement
process and implementation of the revised campus
improvement plan (CIP).
