PROJECT GENERAL AIMS
- The general object of Hydro.NET project is the
creation of a cross border system for the
monitoring and prevention of the water management
(with particular reference to the hydraulic and
hydrogeological risk handling), in order to
assure - the realization, at local/territorial level, of
initiatives - inspired by a common and shared
cross-border methodology - for the prevention and
prevision of the hydraulic and hydrogeological
risk - the definition of a network system in order to
provide (at local level) always updated
information on the undertaken risk management
activities and data during the weather hazards
and guarantee (at cross-border level) the
information exchange and the set up of a
early-warning system in the Low Adriatic area.

PROJECT APPROACH
Hydro.NET performs integrated modelling for water
management
APPROACH TO THE MATTER
- application of interdisciplinary knowledge and
approaches to the project topics - development of techniques and tools to support
the handling of water management matter within
advanced scientific knowledge, innovative
mitigation and sustainable management, networking
and technological integrations and pilot actions
application - boosting of communications and exchange of
information for a propaedeutic impact on policy
makers, planning decision makers and civil
society

THE ROLE OF STC
- The STC is one of the 3 project organism (with
SC and TS)
- The STC is composed by 6 experts each partner is
represented by one member
- Red-line of the project activities and approach
to the problem and causes - Development of the scientific contents and
outputs production - Validation of the project results
- General supervision on the selected study area,
activities and networking system (provides
advices for correction / adjustments if needed) - Feeds the partners with advice to mainstream
results

WHY THE STC IN HYDRO.NET PROJECT?
WATER FLOOD MANAGEMENT IN CROSS-BORDER AREA
INTEGRATIVE AND INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH
- Complex topics
- risk analysis and management
- improving environmental stewardship
- technological integration and
- networking activities
- pilot actions applications
- training and awareness uptake
Tackle the problem from different
perspectives Give relevance to various
but complementary aspects when handling the
problem Shared methodolgy to engage different
solutions

WHAT TO BE REACHED by the STC
- the settlement of common cross-border approaches
in planning initiatives towards the hydraulic and
hydrogeological risk management through the
editing of a Cross-border Document of good
practices on the Prevention, Prevision and Fight
against the hydraulic and hydrogeological risk
- the creation of a networking system composed by
one Cross-border Observatory on the hydraulic and
hydrogeological risk and TWO Territorial Antennas
located in the project territories
- strengthening and tools coordination of the
territorial information supply system involving
all the local operators who, on different claims,
participate in the management of the different
risk phases
- drafting proposal for a cross-border
early-warning system of the Low Adriatic Sea
- Implement a case study in a target area (5 pilot
actions)
- Mainstream the lesson learnt to policy makers,
stakeholders and local populations in order to
improve the awareness and consciousness on the
topics of the hydraulic and hydrogeological risk
and about the active role the people can play to
face the hazards

Preliminary STC meeting and guidelines
The preliminary meeting of the Scientific and
Technical Committee aims to provide indications
about the elaboration of 6 territorial analysis
in each partners area. Since the different
partners background, territorial range /
typologies and operative capacities
content
output
One guidelines document where are indicated a
common methodology (criteria and indicators, how
to chose target areas) to be taken into
consideration when carrying out the preliminary
analysis.

Preliminary territorial analysis
According to the criteria jointly decided in the
guidelines document, each partners carry out a
specific territorial analysis on the case study
area. The T.A. should provide information about
morphological characterizations, atmospheric,
hydrogeological and hydraulic factors, estimation
of hazards and climatic / natural / environmental
extremes, identification of existing defence and
stewardship systems, network systems for
information supply, policy relationship and
normative rules
content
output

The networking system (2)
Local Antenna (PP respConsortium Messapi
KTADA) Networking antenna is an information
supply instrument for the circulation of data at
vertical level (feeding Observatory with
information) and horizontal level (different
local actors and coordination of activities of
hazards / hydrogeological response and
mitigation, in compliance with existing protocol
and plans and according with the indications
provided by the Observatory, good practices
document and EWS) Elaboration of technical
