Expressing the future Tense

• There are two ways of expressing the future
  tense
• El futuro
• El futuro próximo

El Futuro

• is used for upcoming events usually translated as
  will
• Iré a la fiesta mañana I will go to the party
  tomorrow.
• Estarás en el parque? Will you be at the park?

El Futuro

• Can be used in a si (ifthen) clause
  (conditional sentence), if the condition verb is
  in the present
• Si tú vienes, estaré muy contenta if you come,
  I will be very happy.
• Él nos ayudará si le pagamos He will help us
  if we pay him.

El Futuro Próximo

• is used when the upcoming event is to occur in
  the near future. It is usually translated as
  going to.
• ir infinitive
• Voy a comer ahora I am going to eat now.
• Vamos a salir en cinco minutos we will be
  leaving in 5 minutes.

Formation of the Future Tense

• The conjugation of the future tense is the
  easiest of them all because the ending is the
  same for the ar, -er, -ir

Rules on Irregular Verbs

• The ending is placed after the infinitive and
  includes the syllable that is stressed in the
  verb, so you don't have to worry about the stem
  changes that are common in the conjugation of
  many irregular verbs.
• Since the future tense is a later development in
  the language, there are overall fewer irregular
  verbs in the future tense to be concerned with.
  Even some of the most highly irregular verbs
  (such as ser, estar and ir) are regular in the
  future tense.
• In general, most of the verbs that are irregular
  in the future tense modify and/or shorten the
  infinitive, but they all have the correct ending.
