- We have 43 applications / services rated as
CRITICAL - Of these, 21 require data from the SAN or
Mainframe data that will / could be supplied via
Data Domain solution - The remaining are Desktop apps or Internet /
 hosted solutions - Currently, we anticipate 19 days to recover these
core functions, primarily driven by time to
recover data via tape backup - All Intel based systems /applications would
probably be installed in the first 3 days, but
sit idle until the SAN data was recovered - SAN data
- Depending on what day the disaster occurred and
how many tapes to back up - We assume 10 days to recover a weekly set , and
possibly another 5 to recover several daily sets
of tapes - Allows for a moderate amount of difficulty in the
restore process ( from our recent email outage
experience ) - The Mainframe system would take about 5 hours to
recover the operating system from tape - And then another 5 days to recover data from
tape. - This is just the 43 Critical systems, about  92
apps all together

e Low Hi Paul / Randy / AJ, I have been
researching different disk backup and data
reduction (de-dupe) solutions for the past 3
years and may be able to help you with questions
(as Im sure Randy can too). Â In my opinion, the
Data Domain is the only plug n play appliance
in the market place that has the proven track
record and works as advertised. Â If you want a
simple all in one solution that offers security,
redundancies, speed, replication options,
excellent support, inline duplicate data
reduction and the ability to see inside the box
when necessary Data Domain is the choice. I
know both the local Quantum staff and many other
San Diego area service providers and I like them
but I do not let friendships or good service
dictate what solution is appropriate for the
challenges I face. At the end of the day, good
results are what we get paid for. If you want,
