• Create a an estimated monthly personal budget
  with Quicken

Objectives

• Be able to construct a personal budget using the
  tools in Quicken software.
• Be able to construct analysis charts from data.
• Utilize budget projections along with actual
  monthly budget summaries to set new attainable
  budget goals.

Learning Activities

• Students will use Quicken software to set up and
  construct a budget projection for 1 month.
• Students will identify and select the categories
  that apply to their income and spending habits.
• Students will estimate a budget projection for
  the upcoming month based on what they can
  remember from past months spending and looking at
  the activities in an upcoming month.
• .

Learning Activities

• 4. Students will create varying graphs to use in
  analysis to determine spending priorities and
  goals.
• Students will enter budget data into the Quicken
  budget program and generate a cash flow
  projection for the upcoming month including
  financial assistance needs.
• Students will create a monthly budget summary
  from past records and use this to compare with
  the estimated budget.
• Finally, at the end of the month students will
  compare the projection with the actual and the
  average to establish a new monthly budget
  projection with new goals.

Methods

• Students will use the tablet to rough out a
  budget in the journal.
• Students will use Quicken to develop the budget,
  followed by graph development and written
  rational for goals.
• Students will be instructor lead with an example
  using the tablet and projector while students
  observe.
• Students will be email their assignments with
  performance criteria and rubric.
