On Tuesday 25th March, we were delighted to
welcome Flavia Cacace and Vincent Simone, World
Dance Champions and stars of Strictly Come
Dancing, to dance for the children.
They danced a Quickstep accompanied by the School
Orchestra to the theme of The Great Escape
directed by Mrs Norah Ratcliffe, Music Director.

In addition to dancing with the Orchestra, Flavia
and Vincent then performed two show dances, the
Argentine Tango for which they are world famous,
and a very fast and magical Quickstep. The
children were enthralled and loved every minute.
The applause at the end was tremendous. Flavia
and Vincent were presented with a card, made by
Year 6 and a bouquet of flowers.

Flavia, Vincent and the children applauded the
Orchestra on a wonderful performance. They then
took questions from the children, including who
is their favourite judge on Strictly Come
Dancing, what age did they start learning to
dance, and what is their favourite dance.

Flavia is an ex-pupil of St Thomas. She told
the children she had always been interested in
dance and initially studied ballet before
ballroom and Latin. She remembered her time at St
Thomas fondly and Mrs Reid had actually taught
her!

We could only fit years 2-6 in the hall but
Flavia and Vincent were gracious and kind and
visited the children in Years 1 and Reception.
They also signed autograph books. It was a
wonderful experience and we are very grateful to
them both for giving up their valuable time.

DANCING WITH FLAVIA VINCENT

• From Wednesday 2nd April for 8 weeks only, every
  Wednesday up to and including 28th May, Flavia
  and Vincent will be holding dance sessions at
  Guildford College.
• 7.00pm-7.50pm Beginners Ballroom/Latin to learn
  the basic steps
• 8.00pm-8.50pm Ballroom/Latin for those that
  know the basic steps
• 9.00pm-10.00pm Argentine Tango
