Grammar - Vocabulary

• First step motivation
• introduction pupils guess the topic rebus,
  riddle, crossword puzzle (use my website The
  Puzzlemaker), funny cartoon, fascinating picture
  (why no art?), song,
• spontaneous conversation adapted to the pupils
  initial situation natural language, not
  suited for large classes
• test yourself scores (computer-based hot
  potatoes or not)
• link with reality when do we need this
  vocabulary or grammar? / formation objective
  (language function)

Development

• presentation
• first oral approach (pictures,CD,T)
• then examples / model sentences are gathered,
  analysed rules discovered (grammar, stress,
  pronunciation, spelling)
• - either on BB or on transparency
• - either by pupils or by teacher

• exercises are done
• -either in the traditional way or by integrating
  the Internet hot potatoes
• -variation!! (in pairs, individually, )
• exercises are corrected
• - either in class (BB or transparency)
• - or pupils correct themselves (key)

• Transfer exercises
• more free practice pupils are using the newly
  learned vocabulary or grammar skeleton
  dialogue, role play, memory game, quizzes,
• pupils initial situation is all important here!
