5Concerning EAB Overarching Themes
- Technical Excellence
- IEEE is known for its technical excellence.
- It is why IEEE has over 350,000 global members
and why other members of the public and
profession are drawn to IEEE events, conferences,
and publication products and services. - EAB must likewise provide quality and timely
educational products and services or refer
professionals to other educational products and
services that meet our standards of technical
excellence through peer review and/or consumer
evaluations. - Financial Responsibility
- As a product and service provider, EAB must be
responsible for its usage of IEEE resources to
further the educational mission of the IEEE. EAB
must help ensure that the educational products
and services that we help Societies/Councils to
assemble and distribute are financially viable. - Profession Oriented
- As an IEEE unit, EAB must fulfill its mandate to
serve the profession and the public otherwise,
IEEE cannot be incorporated as a not-for-profit
entity. - Member Services
- As a product and service provider, EAB must help
both TAB and RAB to better meet their members
educational needs.

well defined EABs Activities and Initiative
Addresses Issue - 1.6 The value proposition of IEEE membership is
being questioned - 1.7 IEEE lacks content for practicing engineers
and in new, emerging fields EABs Initiative
Addresses Issue - 1.8 IEEE does not have an effective methodology
or process to identify the future needs of its
members and customers - 2. Volunteerism
