21-Evaluation of aging of a- PE, b-PP films
Prof. Dr. El-Sayed Abdel Bary /
Dr. Safaa
- Study of Thermal and UV stability by following
up the changes occurred in the films after
subjecting to heat and UV irradiation - Techniques DSC, tensile testing machines, IR
spectroscopy
32-Wood-plastic composites
Prof. Dr. El-Sayed Abdelbary
Agricultural waste such as saw dust wood,
bagasse, rice straw can be mixed with polymers
such as PE, PP and others to get wood-like
materials. The project is aiming to prepare wood
plastic composites and to study the
characteristics of the end product depending on
the composition and types of components. Measureme
nts Mechanical properties, water uptake
43-Fiberglass loaded with rubber
Prof. Dr. El-Sayed Abdel Bary
Fiberglass or glassfibre is material made from
extremely fine fibers of glass. It is used as a
reinforcing agent for many polymer products. The
advantages of the products are corrosion
resistant, high mechanical strength, low weight,
chemical resistant, electrical and thermal
insulating and many others. The project is
aiming to add rubber powder or rubber solution to
polyesters to improve the impact strength of the
final product. Instruments Dielectric,
mechanical properties (Impact test, tensile test)
54-Polymer concrete
Prof. Dr. El-Sayed Abdel Bary
Quick setting polymer concrete compositions with
excellent structural properties are disclosed
these polymer concrete compositions are mixtures
of unsaturated polyesters and crosslinking
monomers together with appropriate initiators and
promoters in association with aggregate, which
may be wet, and with a source of bivalent
metallic ions. Instruments mechanical
properties (Impact test, creep test, alkali and
acid resistance)
6Biodegradable polymers for drug delivery systems
Prof. Dr. Elsayed Abdel Bary, Dr. Safaa
a-The project is aiming to get biodegradable
blends based on chitosan and polyvinyl alcohol
for drug delivery system.
The compatibility of these blends should be
evaluated depending on the composition of the
blend, Dielectric, Rheometer, DSC
76-Biodegradable polymers
Prof. Dr. Elsayed Abdel Bary, Dr. Safaa
b- blends based on biodegradable polymers are
going to be loaded with cellulosic waste fibers.
The physical and engineering characteristics will
be investigated
Techniques DSC and tensile strength
measurements, swelling in water.
87-Characterization of poly(ethylene-vinyl
acetate) copolymers/ PHB blends
Prof. Dr.ElsayedAbdel Bary, Dr. Safaa
(ethylene-vinyl acetate) copolymers EVA exists in
the market in different grades where the vinyl
acetate content varies from 9 up to 90. The
problem is how the concentration of vinyl acetate
affects the crystallinity degree and consequently
the application of EVA.
Instruments Dielectric, Rheometer, DSC, tensile
test, microscope
98-Oil seal manufacturing from synthetic rubber
Prof. Dr. Abbas
Many parameters such as type of vulcanization
system, concentration of carbon black and
possibility of blending NBR with other polymers
such as CR or PVC will be studied. Rheological
properties, swelling in different oils at
different temperatures, glass transition
temperatures Tg will be measured and
discussed. Instruments Dielectric, Rheometer,
DSC
1010-Selected rubber parts used in automotive
industry
Prof. Dr. Abbas
There are a huge number of rubber parts used in
automotive industry such as window sweeper,
windows profile, motor support etc, The aim is to
select one of these products and prepare them on
a scientific base including complete
characterization required. Instruments
Dielectric, Rheometer, DSC
