• The FIFRA was amended in 1996 by the Food Quality
  Protection Act. It was amended again in 1988. It
  is a United States federal law national.

• In 1972 the FIFRA transferred responsibility of
  pesticide regulation to the Environmental
  Protection Agency and shifted the emphasis to
  protection of public health and the environment.
• The FIFRA established registration for all
  pesticides, appropriate dosage, and hazards of
  the materials. FIFRA established a system of
  examination and certification both at the private
  and commercial level for applicators who wish to
  purchase and use restricted pesticides. It also
  monitors the distribution of restricted
  pesticides.
• The FIFRA affects the sustaining of some plants
  because there is limited use of insecticides,
  fungicides, and rodenticides.
