Revenue Generating Products and Services
  • ICAO eSHOP A commercial website started in 2001
    offers ICAO publications and information
services through an annual subscriptions fee.
    There are currently four services
Conventions and Protocols, Annexes, Air traffic
    management and Annual reports.
  • CD-ROMs Commercial production of CD-ROMs started
in 1997. Most popular CD- ROM is Annexes to
the Convention on the International Civil
Aviation. It provides all Annexes and their
Supplements to the Convention on the
International Civil Aviation on a single
    CD-ROM. CD-ROMs usually group various
publications on the same subject, e.g. Air
Traffic Management. There are 20 commercial
    titles currently available.
  • Interpretation Depending on internal
requirements, work demands, and availability of
ICAO interpreters, it is a practice to offer
interpretation services on a commercial bases
to the United Nations and its specialized
    agencies.

    researchers, consultants, developers
  • Decreased number of requests from Governments
  • Trends
  • Increased sale of web-based documents
  • Higher demand for instant document purchase and
    download
  • Requests for more complex documents and
information pulled from multiple online sources
  • Diminishing sale of CD-ROMs

9
Future Developments
  • Addition of new eSHOP services to the four
    already available
  • Increased sale of existing products and services
    through marketing
  • Introduction of instant online sale and download
    of individual documents
  • Improved security of PDF files offered for sale

    DSU system
  • Supplement CD-ROM products with USB flash drives
  • Profitability analysis of outside offering of
    ICAO interpretation services

10
Conclusions
  • WMD revenue forecast is achievable. It will cover
all of its expenses as well as the expenses of
    ICAO web and documentation support.
  • Proposed activities and improvements can be
implemented with the existing WMD staff.
  • There are ideas and plans in place for further
technological and management improvements of WMD
    revenue generating activities.
  • Efforts have to be made to provide harmonious
environment and collaborative work relations with
    other ICAO bureaux and sections.
  • All this has to be achieved without compromising
main activities and work priorities related to
    ICAO strategic goals and responsibilities.
