The objectives of the Dignity Challenge are to
  • Raise awareness of dignity in care and inspire
    local people to take action
  • Spread best practice and support people and
    organisations to drive up standards
  • Reward and recognise those who make a difference
    and go that extra mile
  • Stimulate a country-wide debate about the
importance of care services respecting the
dignity of those who use them.
  • Encourage people to stand up and tackle services
that dont respect dignity, rather than just
    tolerating them.
  • That greater emphasis is placed on living with
dignity in old age rather than just dying with
    it.
  • Dignity is an important feature of improving the
    quality of peoples lives.

So what is a Dignity Champion? Someone who is

  • Stand up and challenge disrespectful behaviour
    rather than just tolerate it.

with respect particularly those who are less able
    to stand up for themselves
