The System of Adult Education

• Lower Saxony has an Adult Education Law
• 45 million euros a year are spent on adult
  education by the state (Land) of Lower Saxony
• in edition to this there are private
  organisations in vocational further education
• big companies run their own systems of further
  qualification of their employees

Adult Education Law 1

• 1. Adult education is an independent and equal
  part of the education system and comprises
  general (liberal), political, cultural and
  vocational education.Its task is to plan and to
  carry out actions of organized learning for
  adults. (definition of adults)
• 2. The content of adult learning is determined by
  the (educational) needs of the adult
  learners.Adult education has to offer a chance
  to everyone, regardless of sex, age, school
  degrees, of his or her social and job rank,
  political orientation, his or her philosophy of
  life and nationality, in right to a free
  development of ones personality and to
  appropriate knowledge and ability to participate
  and to transform the society.
