WHY BLOCK PAVING ?

• Government decision to concrete rural roads in
  lieu of traditional metal and tar
• Maintenance free or minimal maintenance
• Can enlist community participation
• Income distribution to less affluent
• Can be done with unskilled labour
• Facilitate utility connections

Steps in Construction

• Scarify and re grade existing surface
• Compact
• Spread sand to a uniform thickness
• of 25 mm
• 4. Place cement concrete blocks
• to a desired pattern
• 5. Spread sand over the blocks
• 6. Compact with a plate vibrator
• 7. Construct edge kerbs
