    offset the cost.
  • The process balances the product in order to

    stronger selvages and less linting.
  • A high percentage of a Hotels discards are
    because of selvage failure.

Phillips and Associates Summary of the Weft
Tensile Strength Test.
  • The tensile strength test was done on the weft
of the test products. Warp direction tensile is
not an issue due to the polyester blends.
Failure is anticipated to always come from the
weft deterioration. 30 lbs or less is considered
failing and the test was halted when products
    reached the 30 lbs area.

8
Phillips and Associates Summary of the Weft
Tensile Strength Test.
  • Tests were performed on a sample group of 12
items of each Manufacturer. A light bleach
formula was used on the first 100 launderings.
To accelerate the test, all washings over 100
were performed with a heavy bleach formula.

9
Phillips and Associates Summary of the Weft
Tensile Strength Test.
  • All products were the standard 10.5lb,
24x50, cam product of each manufacturer. All
towels were washed and dried during each cycle.

10
Phillips and Associates Summary of the Weft
Tensile Strength Test.
  • Note It is normal for towels to shrink. As
they shrink frequently an increase in tensile
strength will be seen. At earlier stages the
Major Mill products also showed increases.

11
Phillips and Associates Summary of the Weft
Tensile Strength Test.
  • These were offset by deterioration during the
first 100 washings. The shrinkage increased the
FibertoneTM tensile strength and it held that
    gain through 130 washings.
