Title: JESUS
1?
2JESUS the man
3 4What is our perception of Jesus when he walked
the earth?
5While on the earth Jesus Christ was one person
with two natures He was 100 God and at the
same time he was 100 human The technical word
for this is the Hypostatic Union
6Council of Chalcedon 451AD
We, then, following the holy Fathers, all with
one consent, teach men to confess one and the
same Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, the same perfect
in Godhead and also perfect in manhood truly God
and truly man

16The Incarnation From the Latin meaning
becoming flesh John 114 The Word became
flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have
seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only,
who came from the Father, full of grace and
truth.
17What does the Bible tell us about Jesus?
Was he really just like Clark Kent?
18If he is really superman in disguise then how
can he help me with the things that put pressure
on me like..
Temptation
Family life
Friendships
Money
Work
Prayer life
Sex
Stress
Eating/Drinking
My emotions..
19In the bible we see that Jesus was fully human
including all the same pressures He was not
pretending to be human like Clark Kent He was
the real deal
20 He had a family He had parents He had brothers
sisters
21- He was a normal / average guy
He got thirsty
He got tired
He was made of flesh bones
He bled
He got hungry
22He showed human emotions
He got up beat
He loved his mam dad
He showed compassion
He got frustrated
He cried
He got angry
Suffered anxiety
23Luke 251-52 Then he went down to Nazareth with
them and was obedient to them. But his mother
treasured all these things in her heart. And
Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favour
with God and men.
Mark 62-3 "Where did this man get these things?"
they asked. "What's this wisdom that has been
given him, that he even does miracles! Isn't this
the carpenter?
Isaiah 532 He grew up before him like a tender
shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had
no beauty or majesty to attract us to him,
nothing in his appearance that we should desire
him
24He looked ordinary He had an everyday
labour-intensive job He experienced all the
pressure we experience
In his humanity he faced all the issues we do. In
reality probably more than most of us will face
25- For example
- He was born in a shack used to look after animals
- As a child his parents had to flee to another
country because a political ruler wanted to kill
him - His cousin had his head cut off by political
ruler for saying similar things to him - For a long time his brothers sisters didnt
understand him - His dad died young
- A very close friend of his died
- Religious leaders thought he was mad demon
possessed - His closet friends didnt understand him
- His old neighbours thought he had lost the plot
26- For example
- One of his best mates set him up to be beaten and
killed - He heard one of his 3 closest friends deny
knowing him while he was being beaten up - The people he had come to help wanted to see a
murderer released before him. They even asked
that he be crucified - He was spat on
- Tortured with whips and a crown of thorns
- Publicly humiliated
- Executed
YET
27Whatever came at him HE DID NOT SIN HE SPOKE
ABOUT FORGIVENESS HE WAS COMMITED TO FINISH WHAT
THE FATHER HAD SENT HIM TO DO
HOW AMAZING IS OUR GOD JESUS IS FANTASTIC
That he would choose to limit himself to the
constraints of being a human
28- How did he manage it?
- He talked with God
- He read the bible and believed it
- He lived by the Spirit
29ME
30What about you?
