Title: Gazebo Dedication
1GLEN COVE/MEADOW PARK
HOMEOWNERS ASSOCIATION
Gazebo Dedication Glen Cove Park April 16th, 2000
2Dear Casi, Donnie, Kelly and Courtney
Grandma and Grandpa attended the ribbon cutting
ceremony dedicating the new gazebo at Glen Cove
Park. Since you live so far away and
couldnt attend, we wanted to share this
wonderful event with you.
This is the view of the park and the new gazebo,
as seen from our front yard. There were a lot of
people attending the festive occasion. You would
have enjoyed all the activity.
3The event was the week before Easter so one of
the featured events was an Easter Egg Hunt for
the children.
This is one of the seven gardens that the
Homeowners Association added to the park the
past few years. They were all decorated with
Easter themes, such as this one, for the
ceremonies.
4There were three different Easter Egg hunt areas
for for different age groups.
The youngest tykes looked for their eggs in the
playground area.
The middle group of children looked for
their eggs on the grassy area toward Forest Lane.
The oldest group hunted in this area between the
creek and Rosser St. This shows the new bridge
over the creek that connects both sides of the
park.
5In this photo of the playground, you can see all
the new equipment the Neighborhood Association
has added over the years. The children enjoy the
new playground just like you use to enjoy the old
one.
Remember when the old metal slide would get so
hot that you had to sit on a towel so you
wouldnt burn your self, and the old
merry-go-round Grandpa use to push for you. They
have been replaced but the old swing is still
there.
6A walkway has been added to the east side of the
playground. Set into the walkway are Legacy
Bricks that homeowners donated with their names
imprinted to establish their legacy.
We ordered a Legacy Brick in memory of your Uncle
David. It will be included in a walkway that is
planned to be laid to the gazebo.
7The Town North Concert Band entertained the crowd
throughout the events by playing John Phillip
Sousa marching music and other patriotic numbers.
An old fashioned band concert in the park.
The Town North Concert Band is scheduled to put
on Summer concerts in the gazebo once a month
from May through September.
8The climax event was the ribbon-cutting
dedication of the Gazebo.
Various speakers thanked the members who devoted
much time and effort in planning and installing
the playground and equipment, the gardens, the
Legacy Walkway and bricks, the bridge over the
creek, the Gazebo and the Flag Pole. A round of
applause for all!
A special plaque was presented to Eric Sperling
for his efforts in causing all the improvements
to happen.
9The Boy Scouts served as the Color Guard to
dedicate the new flag pole DEDICATED TO
ALL WHO SERVED WITH HONOR
Grandpa felt proud because he served in
the U. S. Army during the war in Korea.
There is one slide remaining. When you view
it, remember that this is what made it possible
to have The Fourth of July, Marching Bands,
Gazebos, Cotton Candy, Baseball, Hot Dogs, and
Apple Pie.
We love you, Grandma and Grandpa
