    with people suffering from water-related diseases
    such as malaria, diarrhoea and trachoma.
  • 4 out of 10 People Around the Globe do not have
    access to a simple latrine (basic toilet) and one
    fifth have no source of safe drinking water.
  • In some parts of the world, women have to walk up
    to 10 miles to collect water and are sometimes
    attacked on their journeys to a water source that
    is clean.

  • Half of the population doesnt have access to
    clean water.
  • For every 1000 births, around 6 women die in
    childbirth. This is one of the highest maternal
    mortality rates in Africa.
  • Primary school enrolment stands at the high rate
    of 96.
  • 36 of Tanzanians live below the poverty line.
  • One in ten children dies before their fifth
    birthday.
  • Tanzania is 160th out of 174 countries on the HDI

The Kenyamanyori Project
  • The aim To provide a permanent, clean and safe
    water for the 4500 people in the community of
    Kenyamanyori as well as neighbouring communities
  • The need Drought and lack of accessible water
    has forced people to walk around 6 miles to a
    water source which is unsafe. People are
    regularly sick and childrens growth has been
    affected as well.

The Kenyamanyori Project
  • The way it will work Drill down with large
    machinery to access clean water deep in the
    ground. A pump will bring the water to the
    surface. In addition, people have been trained to
    grow crops to earn money and a water management
    committee has been set up.
