What is a Chaplain?

• An official representative of a recognised world
  faith who has responsibility for the religious
  and spiritual needs of the members of an
  institution
• Chaplains offer hospitality, friendship, support,
  practical help and time
• Available to students and staff of all beliefs
  and backgrounds

What is the Chaplaincy?

• A service provided by Student Services
• part of the support offered to Northumbria
  students
• in the centre
• Resourced by mainstream churches
• Practitioners insider knowledge!
• on the edge

What do we do?

• Informative - provide information on local
  churches and other places of worship
• Sociable - organise trips, social activities and
  groups
• Pastoral - available if you want to talk to
  someone in confidence

Activities in Semester 1

• International Lunch
• Every Thursday in term-time
• 12.15pm in Claude Gibb Hall
• Informal buffet lunch for all students, both from
  Britain and overseas
• Costs only 1.50!
• Come along and meet people from all parts of the
  world!

• A Trip to the Coast
• Sun 23rd Sept 2007
• 2pm Haymarket Metro Station (approx. 3)
• Afternoon in Hexham
• Sat 10th Nov
• 1pm Newcastle Central Station (approx. 5)
